This is the software OS for the R4DS. The R4(R4DS) Cartridge is the current top-of-the-line in DS SLOT-1 flash carts. It is just an amazing little device like original DS cart size, it is a complete solution with no need to purchase any additional components or deal with any messy software and truly the easiest media enhancer you have ever done; To simply put it, this is a must have peripheral for any regular DS/DS lite owner.
Hi Procrasturbate. sorry for being a dork, but I dont get it: do i just put all the files on the on the memory card like anywhere? I´ve tried to get this thing to work with my R4DS- card but it seems im doing something wrong since it´s not working. All I´m getting on my DS screen is: "loading..." I should tell You that I bought a R4DS -card and didn´t get any software so I thought i´d get it from The Bay, but I can´t get this to work since I dont know what to do with the downloaded files...
Do You suppose You could like describe for me step by step how to get this thing to work?

Simple really, this is how your memory card shoul look. By the way >> means folder and --means file
-- _DS_MENU.DAT
-- _DS_MSHL.NDS
>> _system_
>> moonshl

Make sure that those 2 files and 2 folders are in the root of your sd card. (Make sure you copy the files over and not the "English" folder)

Now, in the root dir make 1 more folder, called games. drop all your .nds roms into that folder, and off you go.

arken68 it sounds like you've bought a counterfeit r4 the kernel your looking for is 1.21 on your box it should give you the website. of the top of my head it's something like r4dshc.com
I have tried everything from using v1.7 to v1.8 and a korean v1.7 - tried it in another NDS but its sticks at the loading mesagage. Bought R4 card off memory bits with 2gb Integral Micro SD. Any further suggestions or do i have a duff Microcard.

No my friend, this is real v1.18 is the REAL R4DS firmware, R4SDHC is the counterfeit.
It is known to blow thhe fuses F1 and/or F2 by means of drawing too much power through them and ovrloading your system, for SDHC support, the 'REAL' verified working (and deemed SAFE) R4 card is manufactured by R4Ultra @ http://r4ultra.com (This should be displayed on the box of real sdhc cards.
For the ORIGIANAL R4 it should say http://r4ds.com
The R4 SDHC Card firmware is currently at v1.53
The Origianal R4 Card firmware is and is likly to remain at v1.18

Also guys, do not forget that if your R4 card (NON SDHC) does NOT function with this firmware, it is more than likly a counterfeit.

your full of shit, I am running this firm right now on my non SDHC, no prob.
i still don't get it i downloaded r4 v1.18 on r4ds.com and copied it on the root of my card. i made a map called games and put my .nds files in it but i still get the loading screen all the time can you help me plz?
As of late, games I've been downloading have been coming up with the same "cannot acess save file" message. I've had my R4 chip for a year now and didnt have problems before now. Any advice?
